Payroll figures show that the number of formal sector jobs increased by 48 percent in August 2021–2022.

According to the data, the 22–25-year-old age group saw the most enrollments (0.40 million net subscribers), followed by the 18–21 year age group (0.32 million new members).

According to EPFO’s provisional payroll figures, the number of formal sector jobs produced under their umbrella increased by 48 percent in August 2021 to 1.48 million from 1 million in August 2020 while also increasing by 37 percent over pre-Covid levels. At 1.08 million in August 2019, there were 1.08 million net new EPFO enrollments.

However, the growth of net new subscribers in August is 12.9 percent greater than the 1.31 million revised net addition in July. The preliminary July 2016 figures.

Around 0.91 million new members have joined EPFO’s social security program for the first time, out of the total 1.48 million net subscribers, the labor ministry reported on Wednesday. Approximately 0.56 million net subscribers left EPFO but returned by switching positions inside the organizations covered by the 1952 EPF & MP Act.

The establishments covered in the states of Maharashtra, Haryana, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka have added about 0.89 million subscribers during the month, which is roughly 60.45 percent of the total net payroll addition across all age groups, according to state-by-state comparison of payroll figures.

The percentage of female enrollment in the total addition is roughly 20% of the month’s total net subscriber increase. Lower female member exits during the month were largely to blame, it was claimed.

Payroll data for the industry shows that the ‘expert services’ group, which includes manpower agencies, private security agencies, and small contractors, among others, accounts for 39.91 percent of all new subscribers added in a given month.
